Rescue’s Oldest Dog Celebrates His 23rd Birthday with a Special Party — Happy Birthday, Bully!

Unfortunately, dogs don’t live as long as people do, but some are lucky enough to have truly long lives. When a dog reaches his senior years, every birthday becomes a significant occasion to be honored.

Like one candy-themed rescue dog who recently turned 23 — a rip-roaring old age in dog years — and celebrated with a very different birthday celebration.

Bully, a Chihuahua, has lived a long and happy life, but at the age of 21, his life underwent a significant change when his elderly owner could no longer care for him and Bully was adopted by the senior dog rescue The Mr. Mo Project, according to The Dodo.

Being introduced to a new environment at such a young age can be difficult for a dog. Bully, also known as Bobo, is a “super senior” dog in terms of canine years because he has outlived the life expectancy of a Chihuahua.

Bully is now the oldest resident of the rescue, so they made sure to celebrate his fantastic twenty-third birthday in style.

Senior puppies have a very different place in their hearts than young puppies do, according to Chris Hughes and his wife Mariesa, who founded the Mr. Mo Project. They were inspired to start the rescue after taking care of Moses, a 12-year-old dog who had been given up for adoption due to “being too old.”

The couple reportedly spent more than $55,000 converting their home into a sanctuary for senior dogs in order to provide these frequently disregarded senior animals with a loving place to spend their golden years.

Outside of The Mr. Mo Project, “We each work full-time jobs,” Chris told Insider. “This is a labor of love, not a job anymore. It is where all of our money is spent.

Bully, the oldest dog in the rescue, is given a special birthday celebration on his 23rd birthday.
