Dogs are beloved pets cherished for their intelligence and loyalty. Their well-being and happiness depend entirely on the treatment they receive from their owners. Unfortunately, not all dogs are fortunate enough to encounter a kind and caring owner.
In a countryside setting, there lived a dog that was purchased by his owner to serve as a guard for a nursing home’s yard. Ever since being chained in this confined space, the dog had rarely interacted with his owner. Working far away, the owner seldom returned home and relied on neighbors to bring scraps of food for the dog.
There were instances when the busy owner forgot to provide the dog’s meals, yet the dog endured the torment of hunger without complaint, lying in the yard.
From his earliest memories, the dog’s life had been intertwined with that small yard. The neighbors were all aware that the past decade had seen the dog’s existence bound by a chain, creating a lonely and monotonous existence. As time went on, the owner began to realize that the dog could no longer fulfill its duty as a guardian, and thoughts of acquiring a new dog to replace it arose. However, when the ten-year-old leash was finally removed, the dog’s actions left the owner astounded.
No one comprehended the immense hardships the dog had endured. With the rope around its neck released, it seemed to grasp the notion of newfound freedom. Emotions surged within the dog, a mix of excitement and sorrow, as tears streamed down its face. The owner found it difficult to believe the sight before him—a crying dog, tears flowing incessantly.
All the pent-up compassion and resentment from years of mistreatment came flooding back in that moment. The pain the dog had endured was immeasurable, and tears alone couldn’t express the magnitude of its suffering. Suddenly, its frail body convulsed on the ground.
Anyone witnessing this extraordinary moment would likely be moved to tears, sympathizing with the plight of this poor little dog. Regrettably, the owner, frightened by this unusual behavior, perceived the old dog as sick and hastily chased it away with a broom.
Until its last moment, the little dog remained deprived of love from its owner. Nonetheless, it did not display anger. For an instant, it appeared liberated, swiftly running towards the door and disappearing.
No one knows the whereabouts of the old dog today—whether it found a caring family to adopt it or retreated to a hidden corner, seeking another chance at life.
To humans, a dog may be seen as merely a pet, but to the dog, its owner is its entire world. Despite enduring mistreatment, dogs vow unwavering loyalty until the end of their lives.
