Animals that we find on the street either could be strays or abandoned. Sadly, there are many reasons why people abandon their pets.
Some irresponsible owners buy their pets on impulse and then find out that their maintenance costs too much. There are also times when their pet has too many babies and the owners could not handle them all. Sometimes, an unfortunate one could be born in that litter. All of these reasons could lead to a pet’s abandonment.
According to an article on PetSecure, the loss of interest, lack of money, and even relocation are some of the common reasons for owners to abandon their pets. What is worse, instead of surrendering these pets to a nearby shelter, some irresponsible owners leave their pets helplessly on the side of the road.
A man dumped a box with a puppy in an empty parking lot; luckily, a CCTV camera caught him red-handed.
Shannon is a kind dog mom who had three rescued dogs in her home. However, it did not take long for her to find another pup to take in. It all started when her security camera caught a guy leaving a small box in front of a parking lot. When she came out and checked what was inside, she saw a weak pitbull pup who needed immediate attention.
“He was in such a terrible condition,” Shannon shared with The Dodo. “But he was still fighting and he was still hanging on.”
Shannon named him after a character in Pinocchio, Jiminy Cricket, and she was determined to nurse him back to health.
Shannon did her best to help Jiminy Cricket recover from his current state.
It took a lot of Shannon’s time and resources to nurse the puppy back to health. In the first few days, the pup was still a bit scared but he was trying hard to survive. Days after, he already had his favorite bed and he was already showing a positive sign of recovery.
The family continued to observe Jiminy Cricket’s unbelievable growth.
A week passed and Jiminy Cricket had not only already recovered physically, but he also trusted his new family. He let the family cuddle him, and he could even hold up his own as he played with Shannon’s dogs. In less than a month, the once weak pittie grew up to be a big and adorable pooch. He could not even fit on his bed anymore, and he was bigger than the other dogs in his home.
“This dog has been with us and has become such a part of our family,” Shannon said. “So we decided that Jiminy Cricket is staying with us and is going to be our fourth rescue dog.”
Shannon even considered Jiminy Cricket as the most special one among her other rescues.
Thanks to Shannon’s unyielding determination, she helped Jiminy Cricket transform into a large dog with a heart as big as he is. Most importantly, his current family loves and treasures him so much.
“The boys and I could not imagine our life without Jiminy Cricket in it,” she said.
