On a wet and gloomy day, Mayane Rodrigues saw something beautiful happen outside the window of her apartment in Brazil.
From a distance, on the street below, Rodriguez saw a young girl parked on a rainy sidewalk as she came home from school. She put down her umbrella, took off her backpack, and then took off her coat.
Then Rodriguez noticed a drenched stray puppy at the girl’s feet – and realized it was all for her.
Here’s what happened next:
Rodriguez watched as the girl held the dog in her arms and continued on her way. To her, she is like an angel.
“It all happened so fast. It was very emotional,” Rodriguez told Dodo. “I sent the video to a friend and he shared it with a community group and I found out who that angel was.”
Her name is Cibely Stiegelmair. She is 12 years old. She saved a life that day.
Cibely’s mum Rejane Stiegelmair told The Dodo: “I was horrified when she arrived with the puppy because she was sweating and soaked in the rain. “There was blood on her shirt. I thought she was injured, But she told me she found the puppy injured.”
Fortunately, the puppy didn’t suffer too much damage. There is nothing that a little love and care cannot heal.
Seeing the puppy there alone, Cibley knew she had to provide it herself.
The dog, named Pretinha by Cibely, welcomes the home with open arms.
No one knows exactly how Pretinha got stuck on the pavement that day, but one thing is clear – thanks to Cibely, her future has never been brighter.
“As parents, we are proud of Cibely and have always been,” her mom said. “But now we are even more so!”
